Who we are

Policy Upside is a marketing and referral service. We are not a life settlement provider, life settlement broker or insurance company, and we do not buy life insurance policies. We connect people who want to evaluate or sell a life insurance policy with licensed life settlement providers and brokers ("Partners"), listed on our Partners page.

Information we collect

• Contact information: name, email address, mobile phone number and ZIP code.
• Policy information: answers about the life insurance policy, such as the type of policy, death benefit, insurance company, premiums, how long it has been in force, and who owns it.
• Information about the insured: age range or age, sex, living situation and, only if you choose to answer, general health information. We do not ask health questions to residents of Washington or Maryland.
• Verification and consent records: the result of the text-message code we send to confirm your phone number, the exact consent language you agreed to, the date and time, and a session recording certificate (TrustedForm) that documents what you saw and submitted.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and the advertising campaign that brought you to the site.

We never ask for your Social Security number on this website.

How we use it

• To verify your phone number and prevent fraud.
• To determine whether a policy may be of interest to licensed buyers and to route your request to an appropriate Partner.
• To contact you, and to let our Partners contact you, about evaluating or selling your life insurance policy, as described in the consent you gave.
• To keep records of consent and comply with legal obligations.
• To measure and improve our website and advertising, using information that does not include your health answers.

Sharing and sale of personal information

We share or sell the information you submit to the licensed Partners listed on our Partners page so they can evaluate your policy and contact you. We receive compensation for these referrals. General health answers are shared only if you chose to answer them, and only with the Partner reviewing your policy. We also share information with service providers that help us operate the site (for example hosting, phone verification and consent certification), who may use it only to provide those services. We may disclose information when required by law.

Text-message opt-in data and consent are not shared with or sold to third parties for their own marketing, except with the Partners named in your consent.

Your choices

• Calls and texts: reply STOP to any text message, say "don't call me" during a call, or email us at [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We honor opt-out requests promptly and within the time required by law.
• Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: you can ask us to stop selling or sharing your information by emailing [PRIVACY EMAIL] with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share". We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal.
• Access, correction and deletion: depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to know what information we hold, to correct it, to delete it, and to limit the use of sensitive information. Email [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We will verify your request before acting on it.

Retention and security

We keep consent records, verification results and related information for up to 6 years to document compliance, and other information only as long as needed for the purposes above. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
